Road Trip Activities
We’re getting ready for a long day road trip and I am panicking a bit—worrying about too much screen time in the car. We are going to do some movies, but we’re aiming for lots of fun games and activities. I thought it’d be fun to share some of the things we’re bringing in case you need some on-the-go activities too.
Montessori At Home
I’ve always had a Montessori flare to my parenting and teaching style. These are some of the favorite items we use for our home and learning environments
CHILDREN’S DESKS & HOMESCHOOL TABLES
Meal times, sensory play, desks and homeschool tables - I am sharing all the links for the workspaces we have here.
Reading & Morning Work Stations
We have a few little stations around our home that help organize materials we frequently use. From morning work to reading stations to inside my son’s desk - I’m showing a few of the areas and materials we are using right now.
Personal Scripture Study
We all go through ebbs and flows with scripture study. Yet, supporting the growth of our children may lack depth if we do not in turn take care of ourselves and nurture our own thoughts and testimonies.
Scripture Study for Children
Scripture study is probably one of my favorite part of our days and I hope my kids grow up cherishing this time. I try to create a balance between getting in the actual scriptures and also reading stories and having other engaging hands-on activities for them.
Scripture Study Caddy
Using a caddy is a really simple way to keep everything you need in an organized spot for scripture study.
The Old Testament
All of the resources we love for home-centered gospel learning in one place.
Gift and Supply Guide
Since our time with My Tech High we’ve been given about $6000 in reimbursement funds for educational materials. In this post I am breaking down some of our favorite things and also organizing them by items that can double up as holiday or birthday gifts.
Christmas School 2021
I wasn’t quite sure the direction I wanted to head this year for Christmas School, but once I sat down and started to look at what we had, it all came together so nicely and we’re really excited for the next few weeks! We will be taking a break from all our other subjects and units and just focusing on all of these areas.
Give Thanks to the Lord
Here are a few recommendations we love to pull out during November:
“His Story” Timeline
A Christ-centered timeline of history has been something I have wanted to do for so long! It took me a long time to get a foundation/process for the timeline and I as I gathered my thoughts and what I wanted the timeline to reflect in our home, I tried to make sure that it could be duplicatable for others.
Back to School Breakfast 2021
Ever since we decided to homeschool, I have struggled a bit on how to handle nostalgic events. Do we get go back to school shopping? What about school plays? Are my kids missing out on the fun holiday class parties? And, one of the bigger ones, what about the first and last days of school?
Setting Up A Learning Shelf: Apples
Ever wanted to set up a learning shelf? Here is a detailed post on one way I like to set up a themed shelf filled with lots of invitations to learn!
All About Me Theme
This year we decided to take the first couple of days back to school and do a few All About Me activities
Morning Devotional
Morning routines are going to widely vary in every family, but I can’t help but feel morning time is probably one of the most important parts of our days. It is about beginning your day with Him.
Planning A Homeschool Year
Planning a year’s worth of curriculum can be overwhelming, but I love this process because it helps me brain dump. The easiest way to plan a whole year is to start big and work down small. I think of it like a vessel - first, break down your year by month — then week — then day.
My Tech High
The My Tech High program has been such a blessing to us during our homeschool experience. We’ve been apart of this Utah based resource for almost two years now. By the time this year is over we will have received $6800 in reimbursements and I have almost all good things to say about it.
